Fashion With Passion

Fashion has its roots early in history. According to leading costume history website Fashion-era.com, "individuals or societies have used clothes and other body adornment as a form of nonverbal communication to indicate occupation, rank, gender, sexual availability, locality, class, wealth and group affiliation." Now, mass marketing and manufacture has made high fashion available to the masses, muddying most of the old lines of demarcation.

Geography
What most of us consider fashion is confined to first and second-world societies that have access to new designs, as well as the wealth to consume them. Due to the ability of manufacturers to easily "knock off" a garment, cheaper copies of expensive apparel are easily obtainable. Western fashion is often cited in arguments against declining moral and social values by more traditional societies, and can sadly overtake indigenous garb that has survived for generations. In fashion, easy access and quantity is king.
